Hey everyone! I'm new to the forum and to the San Diego area. Last weekend I went out to Ramona for a quick and easy drive on Black Mountain truck trail and was really disappointed to see that it was closed . Where can I get current information on trail closures, and could anyone provide some trail recommendations for north county area? I live in Vista, and would love to know what's within an hours drive for me. As far as trail difficulty, I drive a Grand Cherokee Trailhawk (soon to have rock rails and 32" tires). I like challenging trails that don't guarantee body damage but require some driving experience. Would love to hear what trails you'd recommend before and after the rock rail install, ha (they're backordered for another month). Thanks!

Well, you don't go to the forest service maps for sure. Went out of the way to get one and our first failure was the Black Mountain truck trail. VERY disappointing and had many experiences like that.
I like the CA Trail Maps on my iphone, but not sure how up to date they are. Worked great NE of San Diego.
Good Luck

I've been using Alltrails.com, and looking at the date on the comments. Most seem to be up to date with that info. I just purchased a 2019 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk with the 5.7L V8, and I'm also looking for rock rails, but it seems like they are all out of stock. Offroad Animals tells me they will have them in June. I also may do bigger tires once the OE ones wear out. I have 12,900 miles right now.
