My hood latches are shot, the hood was fluttering so much on the highway coming back from the Salton Sea run that I really thought it was gonna fly right up on me. I know there are plenty of aftermarket latches available. Turnbuckle style, locking ,etc. Looking for opinions from those that had replaced and what did you get. Thanks!

I have had the drake turnbuckle style for over 3 years. Because you tighten them, they will eliminate all hood flutters. The downsides are: they are expensive compared to other choices, and you may have to put some grease on the pins once a year (not really an issue). Something else that has happened to me, is that after many times of tightening and untightening, one side of the turnbuckle will be shorter than the other, which leads to them coming apart when you loosen them. This is a quick fix, but I though you would want to be aware of them. I do recommend them.

I went with Rampage Hood Locks. Primary concerns were some jokester unlatching the factory rubber latches and me driving off down the FWY, yikes, and locking the hood down after I had a Viper alarm put in. I liked the Drake locks but thought was if I'm going to spent a ~hundred bucks on a latch it better freakin lock! (I have to street park some times and I live on a dead end street that has issues) I'm happy with the Rampage and would give them 4 stars as I got what I expected. They can can be tricky to install. As in if you have large hands or clumsy like me-ha, you will need to loosen the inner stock fender/wheel-well to get a 1/4" socket wrench inside. IIRC it was about 5 fasteners.... Install total about an hour. They have some mixed reviews but if you take the effort to line them up correctly they work great. One of the latches did chip and also developed inconspicuous chip in the hood after a while but WTH it's a Jeep! I paid about $90 from Morris 4x4 free shipping, no tax Or at AMAZON, a little cheaper plus tax (Morris and AMAZON are hyper-linked) I can't believe how many heavily-modded jeeps running down the road with the factory hood latches-at risk. Hood latches are a good GREAT investment and two less things to worry about off the list!
