I am starting to look at a heat reduction hood for my 2008 JK. I have seen some nice (and functional looking) fiberglass hoods that include reduced weight as a positive quality over a steel hood. Are there any obvious concerns with a fiberglass hood that I am not recognizing?

Whatever you get make sure the vents are in the proper spot depending on if you are trying to vent or get some kind of "induction". In the XJ Community hood vents are pretty popular. People have done a lot of research including taping small strips of yarn all over the hood to see what the wind does at various speeds.
At highway speeds for example a high pressure area usually forms at the base of the windshield/hood area and you actually get induction instead of venting if you put the vents too far back. Proper vent placement for venting/cooling purposes on an XJ is at the front of the hood between the radiator and engine about where the fans would be. This doesn't really matter at low speed on the trail but at highway speeds can make a difference.
This is just an example though I'm sure the Wrangler's hoods behave differently and I hope that companies offering the hoods for sale have done their homework on the subject.
