What do you guys do when it comes time to change your oil? What type do you use? Where do you get it changed?
I have a JKUR with 55,000 miles and it's time to change the oil, I have been taking it to a local auto shop and having them just do what the manufacturer requires. So What do you recommend?

I usually get it done at the dealership. I have had the Jiffy Lube that is at the car wash change the oil also. I get it done every 5,000 miles. The differential oil, I change myself every 10,000. I just replaced the transfer case fluid at 50k. I will likely replace that every 20K due to the amount of time I spend off road.

I bought 6 years worth of oil changes when I bought the jeep so I still have a few years left before I have to do the oil myself. I get it done every 6k. I change the diff fluid every 12k. I've had the transfer case done twice since I bought it (I have 65k miles on it now). Just had my transmission serviced at 50k.
I like the lucas lubricants.

I change mine every 5k and go to the dealer across from Fashion Valley mall (777 Camino Del Rio S, San Diego, CA 92108) for $40. They use the mopar synthetic blend.

I decided to use synthetic oil since that's what the previous owner used. Since I did the oil change myself it cost me about $45 total. Now I'm good for about 10,000+ miles. It's pretty easy. 6 quarts for my 3.8l engine. I thought that was a lot but it's what it takes.

The 3.8s burn oil a lot quicker than most. Always keep an eye on your level.

I have a strong opinion that oil is a blood of engine, so I never save on it. For my 2015 JKS I use Castrol 10w40 Edge, which is little bit better for hot climate than recommended 5W20
As for how often to change: - if you run in the sand storm - right after you get back home (in addition to replacing oil and air filters) - if you spend every weekend in the desert - every 4000mi - if you go offroad not so often - 5000mi
